Joanna,

Today is your birthday and it is so hard to put into words how much you mean to me. It’s even more difficult to not be near you on days like today. Long distance friendships are so challenging and it hurts, but I can’t imagine not having you as my best friend. It has always been beyond worth it. I am proud of you in every way and I am proud to call you my exotic foreign girlfriend. I love you to England and back.

I know neither of us do well with sappy stuff so I’ll leave it at that. Sap sap sap barf barf barf.

I finally got Taylor’s postcard and skdjsdjhjfhdhjfgjfdgdfg I just read it and cried. Words cannot describe how much I love this girl and how necessary she is to my life. I cannot function without her.

Squirrel, u so cray! I meant everything I said, though. You are so smart and you can do anything you want. All the advice I could give you are things that are you already know. They are things I wish someone would have told me when I started college, and I want you to remember them on the bad days. You deserve every wonderful thing that you get. I am really, really proud that you are my best friend, and I think you’re fantastic and I love you.
